Maternal health disparities persist. Learn how we’re supporting mothers and training providers to close the gap.

Dear friend,

As we celebrate Black History Month, we recognize the urgent need to address Black maternal mental health.

Black women in the U.S. experience higher rates of maternal mental health conditions, such as postpartum depression and anxiety, yet they are less likely to receive adequate care due to systemic barriers in healthcare. With Black mothers facing a three to four times higher maternal mortality rate than white mothers, the importance of accessible, culturally competent mental health support cannot be overstated.

At Seleni, we are committed to closing this gap by providing high-quality training for providers, expanding mental health resources, and providing specialized therapy. This month, we highlight key initiatives, events, and resources that help drive this mission forward.

We are grateful for your continued support and dedication to advancing mental health for all. Together, we can make a meaningful impact.
